If the dowels aren't glued these come apart

I don't have a clue I'm afraid as I bought it whole 2nd hand. I gave it a gentle persuasion for separating and there was a little bit of movement.

I had this shelf and it didn't need a lot persuasion to come apart!

That is simultaneously filling me with confidence and dread...

@hamrack dont if it's glued you're golden. My set was put together badly by my father in law (honestly) and he then moved it around loads and never re-tightened the large wooden screws. I've now got it them in my shed now and they're taking quite a load, they're made of solid wood.

We had it loaded with books and it felt very solid. You could always just screw in some L brackets for a bit of extra support, but genuinely don't think it needs any.

100% these are solid, I've got loads of tools on my one and it's going nowhere!

I've had two of these, one is currently in the kids room with tons of books and magazines on.

Sturdy as you like.
