Goodbye LFGSS!

John, we knew that this day would come and even though we are happy for you for your new journey ahead with Kris and the kids. But I’m sure a lot of us are sad to see you go and the huge void you have left in London’s fixed gear scene and the many memories you’ve created on and off the bike.

As my partying gift for yourself and the forum I’ve been looking at the old photos when you burst into our lives and will share some of these memories to remember the good old times you helped supported and created.

Best of luck John, sorry not to have seen you recently but youve always been a gent and a dude. Appreciate you dropping off the DA t shirt for me at work one time and also coming over 5o Brixton and taking me for a ride out west when I was in between jobs and in the middle of a shitty divorce.
Glad you finally made it out but the lfgss forum will be a quieter place without you.

Made it to Sydney.

The first leg 380 Airbus to Dubai had a decent crowd with most people sat separated in couples, travelling groups or like me in a row of their own.

On the final hop to Sydney on a 777-300 I got talking to an attendant, she said there were TWELVE passengers (only three in my section). As we taxied out to the runway, the pilot, over the PA hailed the flight staff, mentioning their THIRTEEN nationalities..

The deembarcation, customs, biosecurity and a somber bus journey was a trip. I'm left-handed so luckily didn't have to wait that long in lines and left the airport quickly. There were Army and Police everywhere and they emphasised the 'don't fuck around unless you want to be fined to hell and back and spend some time in prison'. Australian Police love issuing fines for real so it's a good fit..

Asked for a room with a view and thankfully they shuffled some envelopes so out the window I got an expressway, a dock and ferris wheel to scope out with my binoculars. Think I am also going to get a good sunset.

I've done a renovation of the hotel room to give me an eight meter channel to 'walk' and 'run' up and down. Been walking for an hour (two hours now!) so far and messing around on social media (sending this post..). Did a 500 meter test 'run' last night, going to do 2K today and a host of basic exercises.

Food will come three times a day and the standard is quite good. Everything extra is a scam. For example they'll do your washing at $50 a bag. So warm here though I am just going to handwash and rotate boxer shorts(you don't even need socks!).

Strange reintroduction to Australia.

Forgot how much I love indie radio, found a station (2SER) and they are playing Pavement at 08:00..

Never a dull day in a bike with you about and you have helped and contributed so much to this community

I look forward to seeing how well you deal with having to wear a helmet all the time 😂

Come back when I need help organising a load of people and have no idea what I’m doing.

They will need to replace the rug when I leave as I am going to run (well jog, my legs are too long..) at least 2KM then walk another 1-2 hours each day.

Gotta keep the body ticking over until I can rebuild a bike.
