  • A couple of weeks ago I discovered this thread being unaware of mechanical keyboards. Since then I've become slightly obsessed with the topic watching far too many YouTube videos, I'm definitely getting a mech board for Christmas.

I discovered this guy's videos recently and there's something very relaxing about them.

  • Yes I have thanks, typing goals when he types in Korean right. The head up style display is nifty too. Feeling very zen after watching that.

  • After 6 months of the same desk Mrs Hobs and I are having a reshuffle, including equipment. I'm also considering parting with my Leopold FC660N (which I love), does anyone have anything for sale?

  • I've got a Keychron K2 V1 in UK ISO PC/Mac layout with Gateron brown switches that I'd like to sell. Would that be of interest?

  • Hi, yeah that's pretty close to what we're after. Don't suppose you have the Win keys? How much are you looking for?

  • 90% sure I've got my spares kicking about if it helps out.

  • Yes, the windows keys are fitted - and I have all the others too. Will message you now.

  • I decided I wanted red switches, it's first foray into mechanical keyboard life. Arrived yesterday, working on it today. I love it but I assume this is this thread's version of anti?

  • I’m putting my HHKB on eBay tomorrow evening. Does anyone want it on here? I also have a custom Bluetooth controller for it.

  • could be interested.. white or black? and how much you looking for?

mine is still locked into my office and doesnt look like we’ll get access back this year

  • Black, used for around a month but thankfully I have a non office job again. Boxed with paperwork. £160 posted, £200 if you want the controller.

  • will pass, thanks!

  • Unnecessary keycap change

  • nice, which caps?

  • Nothing special, YMDK PBT cheapies from AliExpress. I went for them as they had UK an optional UK ISO kit and my board is apparently not compatible with most sets due to a different space. Turns out they worked perfectly!

Although laser engraved I expect the legends to wear quickly, at which point I'll have confidence to buy nicer ones

  • Any progress on this build?

  • Oh clicky people, what’s a good entry level keyboard into this shindig. Always enjoyed clacking away.

I’m still using my Lenovo x220 I love the keyboard feel that much.

  • You can buy a thinkpad keyboard! With the track point as well...

  • Ooh, where at? Can’t seem to find anything but the newer chicklet style or whatever they’re called. My Lenovo one is the old style keys with proper...tactile click if that makes any sense?

  • Anyone want this HHKB for £160 plus postage with the extra programable controller. Could really do with shifting it

  • Oh yes you’re right, the x220 were one of the last to have the square rather than the chiclet style.

I do like the feel of the newer Thinkpad keyboards though. I have kept going with Thinkpads mainly due to their keyboards (and durability)

Full size mechanical keyboards have much more travel though if you’re used to laptop keyboards?

  • Yeah likewise, I can’t shift this laptop if I wanted to anyway, and it’s just ridiculously modifiable and works just great.

I come from an editing background so full stroke keys always bought me joy. Won’t be an issue. Just not sure where to start looking.
