From memory, "managing" the impact of future sports cycling events was in an action from surrey council's cycling strategy / action plan. They have run a public consultation in which over half of surrey residents who responded do not object to the continuation of the ride100, but the council are going to get rid of it anyway.
Sounds like a good opportunity for another home county to step in (Essex?) but the hills will be missed.
