Hard to say... I didn't read every one of their messages... was this how they described themselves? If so... yes.

Cheers. Though now it looks like I had a 5 post convo with myself 😅

Nice one velocio. Admitted they were a self designated troll, seemed to be having a right jolly at it. Pretty sad there is that vitriolic hatred towards blm and anti-rasism and individuals feel the need to try and shit on first hand accounts of rasicm in everyday life. I'd also be surprised if the person actually cycled anywhere.

inquest needed, glad that the BBC haven't forgotten Belly Mujinga :(

Poor woman, she deserved better. Even if the fucker didn’t have the virus, he assaulted her and made her believe he was contagious, then she died thinking that pos purposely and nonsensically killed her. Surely there’s a crime there somewhere?
-
• #932
agreed also Mr Mujinga and their child deserves some justice, and inquest is the only answer. The Police can also fcuk themselves for closing her case.

At the very least given the bloke turned himself in you'd think they would have him on common assault.

How Anime gets Blackness wrong!
https://youtu.be/hi2_S6kBgIg
As someone whose loved anime since the days of Akira, this is really interesting, in terms of how you can love one thing, even though all the characterisations of people of colour are racist, how you have to gloss over or compartmentalise how people like you are perceived so that you can continue to enjoy something that 90% of the time brings you joy.
Same producer/presenter did this film, interesting take on why kung fu exerts such a powerful hold within black culture..

Unsurprisingly, professors with discriminatory views on mental ability produce worse outcomes for students from minority groups.
Studies like this sadly necessary because racists be like "Evidence?!" and "But meritocracy!"

Also interesting to read about her story, thanks, Al.

Here's some quality research (by the Legacies of British Slave-ownership (LBS) project at UCL) into (what is now the London Borough of) Hackney-based slave owners and how they were compensated for the 'loss' of their slaves:

The company and Boyega are British. Where does the american lens come into it?
-
• #943
i was referring to China and their perception of black people through US lens on their society, as referenced in the article.. not about britain. this is where Jo Malone got it wrong, or rather took Boyeda's ad and recrafted it for the Chinese market.

I was on a call years ago for a Sony ad and they were discussing what ethnicities could be
cast depending on which market the ad was going to run in. Black was the least popular
and definitely a no-no for all of Asia, only really acceptable in "western" countries. -

On the martial arts theme, have to go back to the 70s cult show.

Starting to watch Challenger on Netflix about the shuttle disaster of the same name. First 20 minutes and they’re explaining some of the difficulties the first black astronauts had. Imagine becoming an astronaut when you couldn’t access libraries growing up...

I sort of didn't pay attention when I heard last week but Derek Chauvin was released on 1$M bail recently. I'm sort of surprised people get bail on a murder charge, is this normal in the states? Is it something to do with the degree of murder that someone is charged with?
-
• #949
Yes, which themselves depend on each state’s laws to define them. If the law doesn’t prohibit bail for an offence, it depends on whether the prosecution can convince a judge that the defendant is a flight risk or danger to the public.
