Check my 1st post and see Gary still have the same number. He did my bathroom tiles and fixed some walls few years ago while working for his brother. Then they had a falling out and he started his own company, better for him really. He is the sorts who will only call it a day when the job is done well. His brother is a cowboy.
His work is good and he is clean and tidy.
Having said that, it’s been a good few years since I hired him, so you’d have to use your own judgement if you decide to contact him.

My criteria is:
- Did the thing they say they're going to do, when they're going to do it.
- Interested in quality work, not cheap jobs
- Doesn't do multiple jobs at once, is actually there themselves
- Did the thing they say they're going to do, when they're going to do it.

A few I've used in the past few years (North London):
Boiler engineers:
http://www.full-flame.co.uk/ (servicing, gas certificates and repairs only)
https://rokas.london/Both from forum recommendations, appeared very competent and reliable.
Sash windows - https://www.sashrepairs.co.uk/
Not the quickest but took a lot of pride in his work and the results were excellent.Loft conversion - https://www.danjamesconstruction.com/
Obviously a pretty broad piece of work but found them very good and plan to use them again in the future. I didn't particularly rate the architect they used (although he was OK once we gave some examples) but on the whole a pretty major piece of building work was fairly stress free and we were very happy with the result. -

We have used Neil Fox for roofing at our place in SE13, where he’s based. Lovely guy. Great work. Not expensive. Turns up when he says he will.
Think he does all types of building work. I met him when he was fixing a botched loft conversion on our street.

He fixed my boiler and it's a baxi.
-
• #39
Yes, should have put servicing and repairs only.
He does stuff other than Vaillant though, I spoke to him recently and mine is some form of Baxi derivative.

Just got Jesse round to look at sorting my leaking extension roof.
Been given run around by a few others.
Jesse was here v quick for quote and says he can put fibreglass sealer on it on Monday which should solve it.
Hope he does cos I gave him a deposit for the materials...
Did he give you a guarantee for the work? -
• #43
Come on people
It's tradespeople
As a chippy who apprenticed with a female boss, 'tradesmen' whist previously an every day terminology is a bit meh
Happy to take the rap from Uber for this :)

• #44
Thread is a great resource by the way, I actually need a sparky at the moment
-
• #45
Nope. But a guarantee is literally not worth the paper it's printed on. You just need to have some trust.
He's a wiley sort of character but they do good work and he doesn't bullshit you. Prices are fair.

Good you can trust someone after your house issues! -

Does anybody know of a good carpenter that could replace a couple of rotten window sills and swap out a window unit in a modernish wooden sash - North London.
Maybe a few other wood worky bits round the house too. Thanks!
