  • How many times do I have to set up my v-brakes before I find it easy and become one of those people who don't see the point in hydro discs.

  • A tip I would give is to release the spring of the side you want to adjust, so the pad is pushed against the MSW. Makes adjusting very easy.

    Another tip is to release both springs, that way you’re not fighting the system.

    Release springs, remove and replace one pad, hold down the brake lever with one hand, align and tighten the pad with the other. If the pad becomes misaligned on the rim when you tighten (they usually do), loosen the pad a bit, realign, hold down the brake lever and tighten the pad finger tight, then use your braking hand to hold the pad in place and cinch it down. Repeat for other side.

  • I just tighten the adjuster at the brake or lever, snug the shoes against the rim and then back off the adjuster. Slightly different process if I need to have them toed in.
