  • 12 volts are 12 volts, the device will take what current it needs, if your power supply can give 1000 amps it is of no consequence. If your power supply can give 0.0000001 amps it will not power the device.

    I would look for something like a 12 volt 2 amp supply

    If you use an underpowered PSU, there is a danger of the PSU self-protect cutting power just when the HD needs it most, which could lead to data corruption. Using a PSU with a higher current delivery capability than is needed does no harm. Power consumption for HDs is typically only a few Watts, so you're unlikely to need more than 1A
