Yep. It makes the bike much less likely to blow over in the parked position, and a lot easier to push as a trolley.
A third-party mini rack does both of those thinks and is much cheaper and lighter. There are also weird double rear wheel options with no rack, but I've no experience with those.

I have the standard rack on there, but thinking of maybe removing it. But not if it makes the bike a lot more impractical. It's just that I noticed a lot of Bromptons without it and was wondering why.
I don't need to carry stuff (on the bike), but is the rear rack not useful for folding the bike? It sits on the rack when folding, right.
