I'd take Twingo RS over the Panda 100HP and if you can't be bothered to mod a Lupo.

but the suspension bits aren't and there are some horror stories with front suspension arms.
Just the pressed steel arms, same across the VAG range of that age. Early ones up to 02 had solid ones, first job, check yours.

Lupo
You've made me search for the GTI now.
How come these are so cheap?
Almost never saw them. When they came out I remember a VW fanboi mate talking to a dealer their were friendly with who was only given two and sold the first one as it was on the delivery truck.
I'd have expected them to be prime car collection territory.
eg a shit modded one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Lupo-GTI-1-6-AVY-Petrol-Flash-Red-Gloss-Black-BBS-Leather-Interior/233736003752?hash=item366bc060a8:g:fhkAAOSwXYZe-kz~
eg a minty fresh one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Lupo-GTI-2005-Heated-Leather-Huge-History-Original/154139905724?hash=item23e3744ebc:g:NR0AAOSw8vpfhYb1&autorefresh=true

I bought one as it is cheap and van like rear load space.
Hope it is a 4 seater, the 5 seaters are a lot more difficult to remove

I remember when they were £10k and I was poor.
And like Imprezas the only people who drove them were bald men in their early 40s.
-
• #58884
That's totally bonkers. How much did you pay?
-
• #58885
there was a blue phase II I used to see around Camden environs being driven by an Elvis impersonator. But under the wig, you're probably right.

Ha! Random.
When I used to hang out around Kingston / Surbiton when I was young there was a guy who used to do laps of the high street and roundabouts in a silver one.
He fitted the bill to a tea.

Not me, but I wish

Nicole..papa
Exactly!

I resemble that remark, but older! I dislike Imprezas as (despite probably being pretty damned good),yep, they are generally tossermobiles.

My friend Terry had a silver Impreza, so could have been him. Not Fridays though because Ritzys.

This stop motion car vid guy is my current favourite on YT.
-
• #58893
Great isn't it. Although I notice how the stop motion content has dropped a little... No complaints though, must be so time consuming to do that.
-
• #58894
Oi, fuck off. I wasn't in my 40's.
Funny thing was the import impreza covered in stickers and silly hard suspension and massive wheels sold for more money and quicker than cars that were standard and lower mileage.
Also the legacy was the older mans car and how to surprise supercars when you have the twin turbo that works properly.
-
• #58895
Tho the twin air is quite a revvy and fun little engine and economical.
Wonder when the multiair will drop in price, have heard of someone fitting a multiair to a fiat x1/9, the 190bhp one. A 2.0 masserati bi turbo makes only 10bhp more and consumes far more fuel, heavier and larger. The multiair engine can be bought for a similar cost of buying a the biturbo engine and rebuilding/modifying.
-
• #58896
I wasn't aware of the multiair in anything other than the sub 1l capacity.
Reading up on the one you are referring to I found out it's known as the Tigershark and is found in a bunch of stuff more commonly found on this side of the Atlantic. It's funny, about 3 years ago I actually looked at a Dodge Dart when we were car shopping and it would have had this engine in. -

stop motion...must be so time consuming
Yeah I can't even understand how it's done sometimes, like the welding.
-
• #58898
You can get the 1.0 much cheaper and leave budget for mods if you wanted to go on track, or a GTi is good if you just want a road car.
-
• #58899
Theres also a 2.0 biturbo engine making 304 HP. at the time i think it was the most HP per volume to date in a production car

Anyone bought a car recently and got a new logbook? How long did it take? DVLA seem to be saying it could be anything up to 10 weeks at the moment.
The owner bought an A2 when they first came out, liked it so much that he bought one of the last ones for when his became to expensive to repair or run. It never did so the last one never got registered. The owner has sadly passed away so car became available. Made 1999 - 2005
