My first day back in work today, 29 of the 69 miche primato cranksets we have fitted to bikes are cracked.
None of the smallest size of bike have the crack but from 52cm up they are there and fairly evenly spread, not like just one or two in the smaller sizes then lots on the bigger bikes so I don’t think you could say the crack was symptomatic of the bike being overloaded.
We don’t really keep track of when a bike is involved in a crash so it’s entirely possible and perhaps even probable (?) that every bike that has a cracked crankset has been crashed at some point but none of them have been used anywhere other than an indoor velodrome.
Fucking hell. Few days ago I bought a bike second hand with Miche Advanced BCD 144 mounted on it. For optical reasons I wanted to replace the crankset during cold winter days anyway, because it's the ugly red version.
Thanks to your bump I will do the changeover before riding it first..
Bumping this as a bit of a public health warning.
