The research has shown that LTNs do work, it takes time for traffic to dissipate but they work. Obviously people are impatient and absolutely hate when 30 seconds are added onto their journeys in cars.
There are more people driving at the moment mainly because of the pandemic (perhaps to avoid public transport) and the menial reasons like its cold/raining.
We (on here types) should back these IMO. They are a good thing and change has to start somewhere and we have to give them more time.
If you are following this on social media etc. have a look at Wandsworth, they reversed the LTNs and the traffic is the same/worse.
The idea is to make the car journeys more difficult in order to discourage them. Then the roads are less congested for people who actually need to drive.
