  • Yeah I know, we’ve been fairly lucky so far he’s not spread too much to us..

  • we had out first illness free nursery week this week; str8 into 1 year vaccines

wife and I had our flu jabs last week too

  • Stopped in to local pharmacy to ask about flu jab.

Told them I was under 50 and not high risk in any way and didn't want to take a jab from someone who needed it more than me.

They said they've gone through their entire supply for the under 65s and they've got such a long waiting list there's no point even adding me to it. Suggested I called back at the end of the month to enquire about the next batch(es).

There are loads of other pharmacies nearby though, may try those if bored one day.

  • Has anyone in the 50-64 age group been contacted by their GP yet? My GPs website merely says "those between 50-64 (and not falling into the categories above) may be added later in the year. "

  • Hi,
working as a fellow in the NHS.
Had flu jab before, no issue at all.
going to get it next week.
    p.s. I'm 36 y.o.

  • Is it the jab or nasal spray ?

  • had flu jab last year through work.. four weeks later bosh whatever I had, totally floored me for a week not felt that sick since swine flu in 2009.. so i must be on a 10 year cycle.

flu jab ordered this year too, not feeling great at the mo, in fact since returning from cambridge at le weekend .. GF insisting that we take the covid 19 home test kit, her being of carribbean heritage super anxious, with young child all high risk category, so plenty of good reason too.

but we are also arming our selves with fresh weekly batches of wicked homebrew fire potion

powder tumeric, fresh peeled and chopped ginger, peeled garlic, fresh lemons and limes, maluka honey blitzed in the blender decanted into glass jar, in fridge..

three table spoons a day routine..

  • I didn’t know there was a pneumonia jab as mentioned up thread. That sounds worth having? Assume it is like a flu jab in that it is short lived protection, rather than a measles jab that lasts for life.

  • Had mine about a week and a half ago. Still got a slightly sore arm but I think the nurse was in a hurry because of screaming toddler who went first!

  • Nope. I got mine through work as couldn’t be arsed to wait any longer.

  • still waiting for mine from Flu Xpress, was due 09 October..
also GF tested positive for Covid 19 result just back :(

  • Had mine a couple of weeks ago, wasn't going to bother but my wife reminded me that we have a nursery-going toddler & if anyone would be unlucky enough to get flu & covid simultaneously, it would be me.

On the subject, just spent half the afternoon arguing with some tinfoil hat anti-vaxxer crackpot bastard on the village fb page about vaccinations... "I dnt get the vacine cos it actually can give u flu" etc. etc. jesus wept... worst pandemic in modern history going on & people are giving it this shit...

  • Will that risk remain equal in the coming months?

  • So we offered to cover out staff for the jab as we have done every year.

Can't get it booked in anywhere. Completely "sold out" for want of a better phrase. We work with a huge turnover of people from all over, and in some varying degrees at times of destitution or cramped living, - we represent refugees and asylum seekers - so feel it's part of our duty of care to offer it.

  • especially as jnr’s going to be coming back with all sorts from nursery

nothing can protect you from this

So true. Year before last the little vector of disease came back with a temperature from her one day a week in nursery. She then incubated it and mutated it in to something properly noxious. As a stay at home Dad of course she infected me with it, I get a chest infection that develops in to pneumonia.

I paid for a flu jab in September. As soon as my local pharmacy released the bookings.

  • Would you inject yourself with a temporary partially effective malaria vaccine if I offered it for 'free'?

    yes

  • Because it's free?

  • No because vaccines cant be bad.

  • Yeah, nice logic.

  • That still sounds like "I'll 'ave it cos it's free. I'm never likely to get dengue fever but the vaccine's free and, you never know...."

  • Don't you get it? You're such a sucker Amey, gosh.

  • I am sorry ☹️

  • I just like free stuff.
