Why / how is my macbook overlaying german translations onto video and how do I turn it off?
It did it when watching Amazon Prime in the native browser player, if there was a phone screen or something in a TV show with text, a translation pops up in German. Now it's doing it while watching videos with VLC.
In VLC on Windows (though that looks like a Mac font in the title) then there's a Subtitles menu item which lets you pick which to show, or to show none at all.
It'll generally be that you've downloaded something that contains the video (.mp4) and some subtitles (.srt I think) in the same folder.
