Yup, about right. It's a bit hit and miss to judge, but if it feels cold then there's still moisture in it. If you want to be 100% sure leave it for 7 days.

Is there anyone near-ish London who can weld titanium, specifically a disc tab onto a Ti frame?
-
• #104879
Enigma maybe, though I don't know if they do mods? Ti welding is so specialist and tricky that you're probably better off looking for a new frame.

That would be one of those jobs where even if I could (I could, but only really badly) I wouldn't want to. It would need to be back-purged, 'Cos Ti, and so would require one-off back-purging fixtures. And you'd have no idea what tubing was used in the first place and whether it was up to the job. If I was tempted to do the job, I'd make sure I charged more than the price of a replacement frame so I didn't end out of pocket.

Ashima does some.

Thanks for the detailed scare...
I’ve spoken to Vernon Barker who have said they have experience with this and would do it for a palatable price, but they’re up in Derby and I’d rather not have the frame posted twice.
Anyone had Ti done there?

You're probably better off bailing out at this point and getting mini-v brakes.
Unless your fork won't take them or there's a specific need for the extra mud clearance.

• #104884
Yeah I’ve been entertaining the idea. I had it in my mind that I wanted cantis on this bike but I can’t remember if I ever had an actual reason for that, now!

I'm getting an upgrade to my work laptop. Woohoo! Windows 10! Lenovo! Woo!
Hang on. There won't be enough ports.
I need an ethernet connection. Apparently the available travel hub/dock I get offered doesn't allow for greater than 100mbs.Which usb c dock will
Give me more ports (at least one usb for my wired mouse, one hdmi)
And a decent ethernet connection speedI'll have to buy this out of my own money so decent and reasonable priced is key.

There isn't one.
-
• #104887
I think it was ‘I have cantis, I don’t have v-brakes’. Not necessarily a good reason, of course.

Yeesh. Usually docks are proprietary and expensive. IT workers thread?

Satechi adapters are my go-to. Good quality and decent support.
This one is the best value: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B083XCLQWP/
...Unless your HDMI monitor is 4K and you wish to run it at 60Hz, in which case you’ll need a separate £20 HDMI 2.0 dongle.

OSM maps : Does anyone have a step by step guide to joining OSM and editing a road?
I have a few "roads" that are unsealed and want to change on OSM to show this. I don't want to spend days learning all the bullshit just want easy to follow steps for someone who already spends too long at a PC screen.

And to finish up this conversation with me:
quote myself here
Anyone know the thread pitch for the pivot bolt on the Park CN-10 cable cutter? Seems finer than anything I have in the tickle trunk.
Anyone? Park Tool hasn't answered me yet.
I would substitute a nut and bolt of my own but part of the cutter is also threaded in this superfine way.Park Tool answered me today, and are sending me the aforesaid parts unasked for! Nice guys.

I found an ebay listing for a bike that to the word matches a reported (singeltrackworld) stolen bike from two years ago and the seller hasn't gotten back to me about my question about proof of purchase.Íf it was a listing in Sweden where I live I would just report it to the police, but I'm a bit unsure what's to do in this case?
Ebay
SingeltrackworldEdit: The seller responded quickly about my question to ship overseas but not about the following question about proof of purchase

• #104894
Have you tried getting hold of the singletrack user?
-
• #104895
I have a cotic roadrat. 2nd hand and around 10ish years old.
I want to add a front rack which requires 3mm attachments to each fork.
So the existing skewer is a bit short. The hub just says Roadrat. What skewer should I buy?

I tried that without luck. Also the distance between the place of sale and where it was stolen (original owners workplace) is less than 2 miles.
-
• #104897
Well it's just sold so likely to disappear. Do you know where the original owner worked?
Edit: ah I see Kingston, no details of where though
-
• #104898
Try Halo XL skewers
-
• #104899
Sorry no, just says Kingston Surrey. ON the other hand the seller did very clearly provide photos of the original owners username "initials" which seems a bit careless for a thief that sat on the stolen goods for two years.
I don't know, it's just frustrating with so much circumstantial evidence. -

Send the single track user the listing, and then its up to them to phone the police. Best you can do
& @Hjusth
Cheers both. I need pads/holders for some cantis that take threaded posts - which seem to be hard to find! Ideally I’d rather get some threaded holders that take the smaller road style insert but may have to resort to v-brake holders. Will check frame clearance.
