I hesitate to use the words 'just get' as I feel they're heavily overused on here, but just get an Isen GOAT already
I've looked at this option in depth, issue is that it's a really expensive route to take, which is fine if you know you love MTB, but if what you want is a bike that is "good enough" to try it out, and sell if you hate it, it's not.
Buying an OTP is, I think, the route forward. But what?

Behold a non UCI cyclo-cross race!
E-EWS isn't that shit, so why is this and that race on the MX last year so dire? It's not difficult is it? They go down hill like a regular mountain bike but can climb more difficult terrain.

Onone?

Pretty sure I cycled past a bog in Epping Forest called "Carbonsinglespeed"
I'm already en route to find this Holy Bog Namesake...

They're usually named after whoever resides within them, so this can't be true

No harm in being proactive

The only 27.5 bike I can see on their site is the Bootzipper, which is fully rigid.
-

I can't find a single Small or Medium 27.5 hardtail for sale in the UK that's moderately decent. Arse.

Nah. Steep angles, paint that chips and half of China's annual steel production in pointless braze-ons. Look good on Instagram though...

Bike or frame? CRC have Octane One Prones in stock apparently:
Not expensive but most definitely decent.

I can barely move around my shed for all the chips of candy paint on the floor

I'd prefer a bike, getting all of the components individually ends up being very expensive in comparison to buying a complete build, in my experience.

Do consider a 29er

-
• #18416
Fenella doesn't want a 29er, small wheels only. Which makes it much harder to find a bike, of course.
-
• #18418
I wonder if the frame can run an internally cabled dropper- can’t see from the ad.
-
• #18419
Ah, found it- it is.
-
• #18420
The Transmitter? The top end build comes with an X Fusion dropper that is internally routed only.
-
• #18421
The Transmitter is 27.5plus isnt it - so like a 29er.
You could have his and her's Bird hardtails. They do a 27.5 Zero full build for £1,350. Some frame sizes in stock, some apparently arriving in November. If you call them to order two, you could even get a deal...
I am not on commission.

I paid for a 529 yesterday, so it’s only the small, 27.5 hardtail that I need now.
-
• #18423
Ok, Bird Zero AM - how would people spec one, avoiding parts that are showing as out of stock.
I've gone through the choose-O-matic and hit £2,129 on the Eagle SX, with 35mm wide wheels and a Pike Ultimate being the high £ parts.
I went for a DHF front and an Ardent rear, which may not be a match made in heaven either?

SLX or Deore over Eagle SX anyday.
-
• #18425
£2,199 with Deore.
