Canti blocks often have more meat on them but V-brake blocks should work fine. The only issue you may have is the trailing end of the blocks may fowl the forks. This could mean you won't be able to drop a wheel out without rotating the blocks.

Cheers both. I need pads/holders for some cantis that take threaded posts - which seem to be hard to find! Ideally I’d rather get some threaded holders that take the smaller road style insert but may have to resort to v-brake holders. Will check frame clearance.

You're probably better off bailing out at this point and getting mini-v brakes.

Unless your fork won't take them or there's a specific need for the extra mud clearance.
