what rims do you have them on? whats the 'real' width?

real width is small, on narrow rims they look like 23mm ( the 25.5mm ones ).

I'm getting rid of a pair of 25.5mm ones, 1500km use

Yup the 25.5 version defo come up nowhere near. I measured 24mm or a road rim (don't know anything about widths, soz).
