No worries, don’t tell anyone else.
I’d pass on that Buler for a few reasons - basically it’s a bitsa. Take an old ‘branded’ movement, stick it in any old case with a big spacer, reprint a dial and sell on eBay. Quite a few come out of India and Italy - fake Enicar, Oris, Seiko (yep fake Seiko) etc. It won’t take long looking on eBay before these start to stick out. One of first giveaways is the ‘Swiss Made’ printing and the seconds markers.
Anyway, let’s get back to fishing. Try to focus on at least 17 jewel movements. Manual winds usually fair better with the decades.
Next is to aim for full stainless cases, not just the caseback - chrome will start to look tatty and often if genuinely 50+ years old will start to look tired. Solid Gold>Gold Filled>Rolled Gold>Gold Plated.
If the seller doesn’t mention the size it’s probably tiny.
Original bracelets are always a bonus, a lot of the guys on that thread buy stuff just for the straps/buckles/endlinks etc. An original nice tropic strap is worth £50 alone. I have an alert for ‘vintage watch box’ which throws up some interesting auctions where the watch is listed with its original packaging- sign of careful owner.
If you want a second opinion feel free to PM or post stuff, plenty of knowledge on here. -

Thanks again. I'll stick to the OF thread for a while I think!

Im looking to buy a new watch. To be used for everyday wear. Auto or handwound. <38mm with sensible lug to lug measurements . Budget of around £1k. I'll happily look at 2nd hand, but not vintage . Preferably some degree of water resistance. Already have a max bill, and am looking for something a bit less dressy . What are my options?

Sinn, Damasko, Omega, Seiko, Stowa... plenty to look at in that price range.
-
• #48236
I think you need to be a bit more specific, like a diver, pilot, etc.
-
• #48237
Thanks. Quite like the look of a few stowa models. Lug to lug seems loooong on many of them though. Sinn556 does look nice, but I think it may be a bit too large. Any particular omegas that you were thinking of?
-

You are right of course, but in all honesty I'm open to different styles. Probably field or pilot in style , but I'd also consider another Bauhaus type piece.

Sinn556 is becoming sort of a no-brainer classic. Especially, that they can be picked up quite a bit below RRP. I personally wouldn't get one but like both variations with the numerals and without.
Omegas, I just bought one (will come for the next Friday show and tell ;-) ) of the Dynamic III from the 90s. The 3 hander one with date, not the Chrono. -

Thanks. Omega dynamics are nice !
Shame I can't find anywhere to try a 556 on really. I tried a Black Bay 36 on a while back. Really liked it, but well out of budget for now. Also tried a couple of Nomos Clubs. They didn't do it for me so much, plus the long lugs are strange to my eyes. Also tried the Oris 65 36mm, was nice, but not that nice somehow...

Got this Wolbrook (Douglas) Skindiver World Timer Automatic, Full set with an extra bracelet. Mine is the limited edition one too. Impressively accurate with +/-0s over 72h with being worn and then left crown up overnight. The bracelet was like £90 extra, so this is a bargain at £275 delivered RMSD. New incoming means this will go. Anyone keen?

Just over £81! pretty good for something that look it worth way more than that.

This limited edition (with the X-15 caseback) is sold out and the normal version with the bracelet worked out something around £450 plus delivery. So this is a bit of a bargain.

Agree the Sinn is a nice choice. Other thoughts (varying prices):
Serica WWW 37.7mm
Oris big crown pointer date 36mm
Seiko 'Baby Alpinist' 38mm
Seiko sarb033/035 (prob too dressy) 38mm
Smiths Everest 36mm
Farer Stanhope / landsell / hudson 37mm
Christopher ward sandhurst 38mm
Unimatic U2F 38mm -

Timefactors have quite a bit in the sub 38mm range now. I'm tempted by a "baby" dreadnought or speedbird
-
• #48249
Size wise that baby speedbird is bang on , maybe a bit on the thick side

The Oris is nice , have looked at those before
And also my mood! Lol
