Alright Brunel.
Enjoyed that.

I polish them up well with a coloured polish then let them get a bit dirty. The polish covers a lot of minor stuff.

Nice. So much space.
Any more deets on the bikes now?

Loadsa stuff on the web about it all!

Nah, nothing that I can think of. It does remind me that there are some obscure things like Farmers Mutual insurance though that are often pretty decent.

Rather good EV conversion video, car spotting in the workshop

824mm? Or is that what you have?

Proper hauler. Not sure if they still do did them by Disco 3 but you always used to be able to buy a commercial version with panels instead of windows. I guess the benefit of yours is that when not hauling bikes, you can use it like a regular disco.
Congratulations on the bikes. They look ace in all the pictures I've seen. Proper good fun.

I've finally managed to push the mpg of the Volvo V60 to over 100mpg... rather stoked to see it hovering around the 130mpg mark for some recent 20 mile journeys.
This plugin hybrid malarkey is good.

I've actually been looking at the Disco Commercial, which is the panel van version - van speed limits mind you.
-
• #58464
In that case you are probably better off going for a regular disco and tinting the back windows. I wasn't aware of a van speed limit in the UK. It must be relatively new as I used to use a van a lot working for my dad and I drove it just like a car.

I'm not sure I'd want to pay £50k for something with these cons (or however much secondhand):

I’m not sure they would apply, as it is probably classed as a dual purpose vehicle, as such car limits apply.
-

Apparently:
For built-up areas and motorways, vans should follow the same speed limit as cars. But on single and dual carriageways, the speed limit is 10mph lower than the speed limit for cars.
But:
If you're driving a van with a gross vehicle weight of between 3.5t and 7.5t, the van speed limits also apply, but the vehicle should be restricted to 56mph under EU law, so the limits for dual carriageways and motorways are effectively redundant.
I'm not sure they would come with a limiter by default?

That’s the disco 4 though.... which is still in production, and super expensive
-
• #58469
Ah OK. Does it have back seats? I.e. is there any point to the rear doors?
I think I'd prefer something which is actually Disco shaped, i.e. this:
-
• #58470
Unless specced for private use or other exemption it would come with a tachograph and speed limited.
-
• #58471
Fucking ugly too.
It's almost like the previous gen was too competitive against the FFRR so they've slapped this one about to upsell buyers.
-
• #58472
They have a removable bench seat
-
• #58473
Is that the same as the 2 door disco?
Where the rear passenger doors would be it looks shorter than the 4 door. But maybe that's me.
-
• #58474
Not sure. Here's another one for comparison (I'm down a vintage off road disco wormhole now and quite enjoying it).
-
• #58475
Guess you could probably do that if you were spending £50k. You'd hope!
It definitely seems like it, considering the bang (arrival of object), noise like something caught in a wheel, bang bang bang (departure of object), and then being unable to replicate the noise after the finals bangs.
Fuck me though, not the kind of noises you want when you're worried you've bought a dodgy car!
