I'm not sure I'd agree personally, they're currently powering the only team that can even compete with arguably the most dominant car in F1 history (haven't looked at the stats but the only thing I can imagine coming close is Vettel's new Williams), and the only engine manufacturer to achieve wins with multiple teams (sure that was fortunate, but a damn good brag).
Though the Alonso period was definitely not a good time for Honda, they've really come on strong since.

All Honda seem to have got from this F1 period is bad press, I can see why they want to pull the plug on it.
