  • Photos or it didnt happen

  • Anyone knows why you might want the name of a French dive outfit on your watch will also know that it shouldn't be on a Seiko.

Explain? For those not in the know.

  • Not a hater, just think it's a bit weird.

@ChainBreaker Not at all an expert, but Comex comissioned Rolex to make a dive watch to their specs and added their logo to the dial - this went on to become the Sea Dweller. These are highly desirable to collectors.

  • Rolex made a bunch of custom dial Submariners and Sea-Dwellers for Comex; as with many niche Rolexes, they now all fetch $$$$ on the collector's market. (Edit: beaten to it)

  • I tend to agree - and it's not like Seiko doesn't have their own pedigree in divers watches with the Tuna, Willard, their long-standing PADI association etc etc. If you dig that kind of thing but can't spend COMEX money there are plenty of current Seiko PADI models, or you can look for an Aqua-Lung Doxa, etc. any of which would feel less "Ferrari body kit on an MR2" (not that I would tell anyone what they can and can't do with modding a Seiko, which is definitely a good and fun thing).

  • This is why I'm investing my ISA into SUPREME Rollys.

  • Yeah I hear you. I just wanted a black diver that wasn't too big (skx013 is good size for me) and this appealed to me. I'm not really a 'brand' person so whether it's Lorus or Longines, I'm not really fussed.

  • No strap at the mo cos I took it off to change the battery.
The big scratches at the top of the bezel are from when I fell off my bike. There is meant to be rubber bumpers next to the crown but my pet rats chewed them off.

  • Ah yeah, there are so few sub-40mm divers, it's not easy to find good options. There are a bunch of good 013 mods though, doesn't have to be a Rolex bite. The hands are the bit I never liked on the 013 and there are tons of good options available.

  • And for comparison. The Alpina I had that detonated after I fell off my bike once.

Love a well lived and loved watch! So many stories it can tell if it could tell anything more than time.

Ouch 😔 that brings a tear to my eye.

  • hands... 013 and there are tons of good options available.

    Citation needed.

  • Maybe that isn't tons.

  • I've got the MM ones waiting to be fitted.

But from outside the case and vs the 007 ones I still worry the second hand will be a bit long. I'm hoping the design means I can get the modder to trim the tip if it is.

Obvs you can remove the chapter ring. But that looks a bit shit imo.

Tl;Dr the long hands are always the challenge.

  • Never been a fan of the newer Seamaster 300 but the white dial as most definitely peeked my interest. Due to twig like wrists, I'm guessing 42mm is out of the question, anyone vouch if it wears true to the measurements??

  • They wear quite small for dive watches; sit low so fit under cuffs, well designed clasp so it's not too thick there, doesn't feel too much like a dish on the wrist but it is still a 42 it's not going to look dainty.

  • Friday. I’m wearing this today for a full day of travelling to beat the quarantine...

  • If you're in London, you are welcome to come give mine a whirl. It's always less intense than trying one on in a shop.

In answer to your Q I think it wears TTS. It's relatively shaped so sits nicely on your wrist. I'm yet to bang it into a door frame which is my measure of "fuckin'ell this is too big"

  • yet to bang it into a door frame which is my measure of "fuckin'ell this is too big"

    This is an excellent metric.
