Digital system for proving euss status not always working very well. News at 10.
Basically they are just experimenting, other forms of ILR you get a card. This is supposed to be more user friendly, but not really.

Just before the March lockdown (and more noticeable after), Sainsbury’s in both Oxford and Hereford had whole aisles completely empty plus staff standing looking at them with long queues at the few checkouts open. Yet supermarkets a few hundred metres away had stocks that were replenished daily....

I posted in the wrong thread, we still have Covid panic, not Brexit panic.
Tesco limits sales of key items to stop Covid panic-buying
Supermarket chain follows Morrisons by rationing toilet roll, flour and other essentialshttps://www.theguardian.com/business/2020/sep/25/tesco-sales-covid-rationing-toilet-roll-flour

Yep, new lockdown for London and the North being considered.
Bog roll, beans with sausages, flour, pasta, rice.
Do a trip round the supermarkets maxing out your allowance at each and you’ll be fine.

Anybody surprised?
So, how is offering immigrants on "shortage jobs" in farming/fishing going to work if they need to earn 20.4K while there is blatant labour abuse/the locals get paid less?
I don't see it.
-
• #27342
Yes, I imagine that the levelling up agenda will see every ex-Nissan worker transformed into a data scientist/software engineer in Cummings AI moonshot.

Statement about to happen, from Ursula von der Leyen. Legal action against the UK is coming.

This draft bill is by its very nature a breach of the obligation of good faith laid down in the WA. Moreover if adopted as is it will be in full contradiction. The Commission has sent a letter of formal notice to the UK govt.
Punchy
We have a month to respond. I'm sure that will spur our well-meaning government into immediate action.

Training everyone who works in a business dependant on good relations with the EU how to operate a trawler?
-
• #27346
Ufff playing hard ball. That'll fire up the ERG Brexiters once again and potentially make compromises from the UK side harder.
But it is one of those "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situations perhaps.

But even in no deal they expect a win as they expect $ to do even worse against £.
-
• #27348
I guess they have to do something, and I think if they were to do the opposite, and bet on No Deal, it would not go down very well.
-
• #27349
Many EU countries are resigned it may happen and have already planned/hired accordingly.
I think they just can't let this slide, another stupid gamble from the UK if you ask me. And with the UK I mean Cons/DUP.

Cons/DUP
ERG/UKIP
Would she listen to her son?
