  • I may bit a bit biased because I thought Cookson did a good job, but is there anything Lappartient had done during his reign as UCI Head Honcho that hasn't been a total shitstorm?

  • Brailsford's dismissal of him as "small town French mayor" was both a withering put down and very accurate.

  • And that’s probably the end of Simmons.

  • idiot

  • Wonder if any other team will sign him after this? I guess he might come back if Trek allows him back in, but if he gets sacked I wonder if anyone else will take him on

  • Tootles dickhead, don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

  • Lachlan Morton a surprise inclusion in EF’s Giro team.

  • not sure who to pick from the giro GC contenders: thomas, fuglsang, kruijswijk, yates, nibali, lopez... yates maybe? three TTs good for thomas but some spicy stages in the back end as per, though he's been looking like he's coming into some form

  • Presumably he'll ride all the stages back to back, and finish 5 days ahead of everyone else?

  • Proud Boys / Koch Brothers might start a team. Bootleg Fred Perry team kit

  • Fuglsang has shown great form for a couple of years now, without a standout favourite he's got a great chance.

  • He’s never really delivered as a GC rider though. Think he’s got one fringes of the top ten finish in the Tour.

  • He's their Valverde

  • Is the giro a bit shorter this year? If so that might help

  • has a mad 250k stage partway through. sure riders will appreciate that

  • I was thinking that maybe the journalist’s South American sounding name José triggered him to use ‘digital blackface’

As it happens she’s a Dutch woman.

  • I thought that was a fabulous put down, Lappartient got suitably upset if I recall.

  • That’ll be a fun stage then. 200k of nothing. Then 50k ride. No change to GC.

  • That’ll be a fun stage then. 200k of nothing. Then 50k ride

    Wasn't the world's chat 3 pages back?

  • I think it’s worse in a stage race as all the teams just agree to ride steady. Although the first 100k of any worlds is dull it is a necessary to get the best to the top.

  • We'll finally get an answer to the question to the age old question - is ultra cycling appropriate preparation for a grand tour?

  • I guess he'll do a couple of years on a US pro team or a conti team then be back in the World Tour, if not sooner. More interested to see what happens with Dygert; the stuff she liked on Twitter is arguably worse but she's also not in a World Tour team. That said, given one of her team's latest posts is about one of their riders is native American and is a strong advocate of improving the lives of her tribe and those of other tribe members I don't know how they will square that with Dygert's like of Charlie Kirk's post.

  • I think Morton is a talented enough rider that he can cope with both. Looking at the EF team, there is no obvious leader so assume they are aiming at stage wins and generating social media content.

  • starting my lachie for GC campaign now

  • There’s a high chance that some of the stages in the last week will need to be rerouted because of snow. Most of the higher passes are normally closed by the middle of October.

That might give an advantage to the stronger TT riders. All things being equal though, it should be a fascinating GC race between the climbers and the TT riders who can climb.
