Are there any long drop brake calipers that are as good as the TRP rg957 but ideally significantly less expensive? If not, is there anything else worth considering at the same sort of price? (The cheapest I can find is about £110)

Have you thought about Caliper Brake Extend Adapters? and using any brakes you like? These have worked really well for me and didn't affect braking at all.

If I already had a set of brakes that I liked and wanted to use I'd consider giving that a go! As it stands I don't so I'd rather just go for something designed for the task, rather than spending the money on something and then having to bodge it anyway.
