I’ve never watched IPL before, never had sky. Franchise teams without heritage played for by imported stars on big paydays who couldn’t much care whether they win or lose. Is that about it?

Few big stars on big pay days and everyone else chasing for a bigger slice.

The IPL is basically a front for gambling syndicates. My ex was involved in some of the promotion for it a few years back, and said that if you paid enough money in to the pot you’d be told who the winner would be. All based in London, apparently.

The IPL may well be rigged and have no heritage, but at the same time it's the highest standard t20 cricket by a long way

The game I watched the other night, Chenai v Rajasthan had the highest number of sixes ever apparently. I still struggled to get excited about it. It’s probably not T20 in itself though, I watched the U19s T20 at my kids’ club on Sunday and it was great watching.

Dean Jones has died in Mumbai. Being from Melbourne, there was always a sense he was unfairly persecuted by the cricketing authorities. Probably fair in hindsight and was likely a bit of a racist cunt. nevertheless, i have fond memories of his cricketing abilities. rip
