  • Finger tattoos, how quickly do they fade?

Looking to get a 17 on my ring finger.

  • Mines about 8months old and looks perfect. I think inside/side wears quicker than outside. I wear gloves all day and generally abrade them one way or another and it’s been fine. Just make sure you go to someone who does a lot of hands as the techniques differ apparently or so I was told...
Can always get a top up as well if it’s a simple design.

  • Mine on the middle side of my index finger (side facing middle finger) has been there for.... 10 years? It was DIY by an ex’s brother with his cheap kit. Looks the same shitty lettering as it did 10 years ago. Never faded, barely blurred.

  • Dad was getting my preferred tattoo guy to cover up on his bicep with a proper coloured rose and mum’s full name instead of the little ‘C’ he’d had done a decade or so ago. So since we had the day, got some space filled and shading put in my pog slammer skulls.

  • Octopus woman ^^ what's the tattoo on her wrist?

  • It's a cat, (I think) it says "Love you, mein Kätzchen" (love you, my kitty) beneath it.

  • About tattoos that don’t heal properly...
Years ago, on my second or third tattoo, I got the best aftercare advice ever. Some 60+ sessions later - I’ve never had a problem with healing. I’d like to share that with you.
(Disclaimer- this method only works with tattoos that are done properly, not when the skin is so f’d, that the scabbing is basically impossible to avoid)
It’s simple - DO NOT BE GENTLE WITH IT.
Basically, you get it done, wrapped up. Then let it settle for a 3-5h. Unwrap it, gently wipe the slimey stuff with a paper towel so the tattoo is dry. Then grey soap and lukewarm water and you wash it thoroughly. But like you mean it, it’ll hurt a bit but that’s ok, just use lots of soap and really focus on all the areas tattooed. Obviously, don’t scratch it, just wash with the palm of your hand. Then rinse and pat dry with paper towel, wrap up in cling film again. Repeat every 2-3h for a day or two without putting any ointment. Only put ointment when you unwrap and there’s no slime stuff - then just wash and put a thin layer of Bepanthen (any tattoo ointment will do but B is my favourite), then depending on how large the tattoo is and where it is, I try not to wrap it up anymore. Just repeat the same thorough washing procedure every 2-3h. In my experience all the flakes are gone after 3-4 days tops and the tattoo is basically healed, after about 5 days of Bepanthen, I only wash 1-2 a day and use normal body lotion.
I do appreciate this is not very rock n roll, but if you want the tattoo healed ASAP, I highly recommend trying it out. It made my life a lot easier.
Thanks for reading if you did. Happy healing.

  • You can't use Bepanthen any more, they changed the formula some years ago and now it can risk drawing the fresh tattoo out of the skin.

  • Had some good sessions there with 6dita, Italian dude who came to do a guest spot few years ago. Cool shop and some real good coffee around Brick Lane.

  • Are you talking about cream/ointment difference? I’ve been using Bepanthen for years and never heard or had anything like they.

Also, the method I shared doesn’t use Bepanthen until after the first healing steps (not slimey anymore).

  • I think it was around 2015 it was said to have changed, could be an urban myth but it makes sense. It's a rash cream that's designed to speed up healing a bit too aggressively, better to just use a neutral moituriser like unscented coconut oil. I got a bunch of little pots of H2Ocean cream after my last tattoo and that seemed to work really well.

  • There are 2 types of Bepanthen, one for nappy rash (draws the ink out, not to be used, learnt this the hard way). Now I use Tattoo Goo, with very positive results.

  • Holiday freehand gap filler. Same guy did my dirk last year. Amazing little studio and hilarious bloke. Insanely long wait list but he’s the best thing for miles and miles around so not surprising.

  • Very cool! ^

  • This is exactly my technique. Though last one the artist used dermalize and I just kept that on instead under artist direction. Was a bit worried about not being able to wash it at all but it worked perfectly.

After the first four days just tattoo goo of some kind for healing.

  • Was in with Malice for a few touch ups the other night. Her new studio @scorpiomarstattoo opens imminently which is super exciting. I made a piece of decor for the shop and she’s hoping to be able to have a smallish opening party soon(hopefully).
This is where I’m at so far with my ribs project. Mostly healed but a second blast on ‘guilt’ and a few touches here and there.
We’re talking about going up to the armpit and filling that space down the middle as well.
