  • Other than the forks what makes you think it's a Roberts? Lug work?

  • Forks are a start but obviously could be a frame by someone else, it’s not a Rossin... It just looks like others Roberts I’ve seen, seatstay, cable stops on the chain stay, worth asking the seller for the frame number...

  • Just to let everyone know incase anyone was interested, that possible Roberts badged as a Rossin on ebay is approx 52/53cm c-c seat tube, and what looks be 52cm c-c top tube. I asked the seller-also asked for the frame number but sadly he hasn't given me that.

  • Interesting Roberts audax / touring thing on ebay atm:

  • Holy headtube batman! And I thought mine was jacked

  • Seemed like a nice day to get out.

  • Centenary ride: DIY and virtual ride to all the Roberts London locations https://www.lcc.org.uk/articles/diy-roberts-centenary-ride.
This was the ride planned for the centenary of Charlie Roberts' birth before Covid struck. The after party was going to be hosted at Hackney Peddler where you can still find two dozen vintage Roberts frames of all ages. Maybe we'll try again next year.

  • This just landed in my office - no decals on frame or any markings on forks but has the "R" stamped brake bridge & BB number looks quite similar to others i've seen here. Fair bit of surface rust (apparently lived on a turbo for a while...) so i'll strip it down & clean it up then see what the inside of the tubes look like before deciding what to do with it

  • Any progress on this?

  • Also, I’m back in the club and feeling very guilty...

  • Not quite yet, stripped most of it down without any drama (other than about a decade's worth of turbo crust, bleuurrggrhh) but I don't have a long enough allen key to reach the quill bolt or the tools to remove the BB so it's in the shop to have the bb/stem/headset removed, then we'll see what we're up against! They've worked wonders a few times for me so hopefully it'll be straightforward enough - if anything's going to give problems on an old frame it's rusty quill stems & bbs though.

Was some nice bits on it too, well used but serviceable DA 7402, apart from one of the dt shifters, one of the parts had cracked but might be replaceable - could turn into a saga... the frame itself is 56 square so too big for me but would still be nice to refurb it as a project.

    What's that you've picked up - pics!

  • 56cm is my size 😉
Mine is a 54/55cm Columbus Max track frame currently stashed at my brothers house...

  • Haha, noted - once I hear back from the shop i'll see what the best plan of action is for it, hopefully not violence, corrosive chemicals or fire... crosses fingers

  • That looks like a Rough Stuff light. I have one, but with discs and 26" wheels.
Same bloody colour! Thought mine was unique...
Magnificent bike, did LEL on it.

  • Apologies for the crap photo. 1996 Chas Roberts fillet-brazed custom frame for a Sigma customer. Alas no records exist for the original build. Columbus EL-OS frameset. Mix of Shimano 105/Ultegra, Campagnolo headset and seat post.

  • I recently acquired a fairly beat up Roberts frame and fork (ser #84217) and set about making it like new. I had it powdercoated "bengal yellow" and put some H Lloyd decals on this past weekend. Its maiden voyage was sunday before I'd even put the handlebar tape on. The bike rides great. :) Here's a pre-ride pic:

  • Can't see the pic. Seems to be a broken link.

  • Maybe this will work...

  • Much better. Lovely colour scheme. The Roberts looks goooood. Is that a KTM behind?

  • Thanks! Yes, that's my enduro r with smc wheels. I love that bike too. ;)

  • You Hooligan!

  • It is, um, a very practical machine that, er, makes my commutes, uh, a wonderful exercise in frugality. Yeah, that's it...

  • Can't beat that logic!

  • Glad to see H Lloyd have upped their game with Roberts decals. They were really shite for a while back there. Loving the yellow and black too : )
