  • Rad! I love my Rockhopper with a Clydesdale fork. Pretty sure it’s improved the handling loaded and unloaded as well.

I’ve installed a Pletscher twin leg kickstand. I works okay, but having the rear rack and kids seat makes it a bit unbalanced, and there’s no way my son can be in the seat with the kickstand down. It is handy for loading up the basket though.

Are you going to use a basket or crate on the platform? I’m probably going swap out the Wald I’m using for a lug crate very soon.

  • Excellent thread, I went and read it again and I have some questions..

How much clearance is there with the 20x2.2" tires? I went for 20x1-3/8" (also Maxxis DTH) and it looks kinda tight already near the mudguard mounts. I was also annoyed to find that I couldn't run a strap under the front of the platform because of the tire.

And can you post a pic of your kickstand? My frame has a little brace on the chain stays that I'm afraid might make it hard to mount

  • Thanks.

Here’s where the chain stays meet the bottom bracket. I just managed to squeeze the kickstand in under the front derailleur. It’s a bit of a clusterfuck under there with the stand clamp now because the derailleur is top and bottom pull, so it’s pretty bulky. I’ll take a photo tonight. The clamp also has interfered with the shifter cables a little bit, but I can’t feel it in the shifting. It’d be fine with a 1x groupset.

As for the front wheel. I reckon there might be a enough clearance with the 2.2” tyre. I’ll have to look tonight as well.
