Nothing really. I always preferred how a singlespeed drivetrain dealt with muddy offroad conditions and general neglect, so when I became too puny to SS it anymore, decided to give internal gears a try

I'm not going to become a gearbox advocate, as they're certainly not for everybody or all types of bikes, but I like them, and if the Pinion gives me as little hassle as the Rohloff has, I'll likely consider it for any future bikes too

I considered building up an Omnium with the Rohloff, but wouldn't want to risk it getting nicked :-(

Turns out that steel OTP with 50mm riser bars accomplishes the same at half the price. Thanks brexit.

It's only about 7 years since you could get a custom Triton ti frame for under £700

This is what I see when I look at modern MTBs.

My last Woltly f+f was 550 delivered including customs. It's 1500 for frame only now.

That's the benefit of living in Danish suburbia.. it would mostly be used for daycare runs and shopping, so no leaving it unattended somewhere sketchy for long.
