Basically yeah. I already had the TunnelBear chrome extension so just used that, the free version is good enough.
I bought three of these

but realised I can't redeem the third yet as there's a 36 month max and I just renewed for this month, so next month I should be able to redeem the final 12 months.Within a couple of minutes they'd emailed to confirm I wanted the Brazil one, offered others if I paid the difference. I said it's fine, got an email with the 3 codes back straight away.
Turn on vpn, go to redeem.microsoft.com, enter code. Done.

Electronic First came through, they emailed me to confirm I did want Brazil time rather than EU or rest of world, I said yes and in seconds I had the codes, really good service. Now I don't have to pay anything else until Jan 2023.
