  • You're already dead.

  • 7930 daily steps is an oddly specific number.

  • am I going to die?

    Yes. Eventually.

  • My new watch monitors blood oxygenation

How? I'd take toy oximeter readings with a pinch of salt.

  • Automatically generated by the watch I think- I have not specified any target.

  • I'd ignore it.

  • Lasers, I believe. Possibly with magnets also. It’s a Forerunner 945.

  • Have got a Fenix 6s Pro and get similarly odd results. Apparently the watch doesn't wait until you're still before it takes the readings, which didn't help. DC Rainmaker mentioned something similar on his latest Apple Watch review when comparing it to Garmin

  • No. If anything the hoop stresses from tyre inflation will be less. Wider rims may make the tyre sidewalls more susceptible to cuts and abrasion though, as the tyre tread will be less inclined to roll and stay in contact with the road surface.

  • Good news, thanks!

It's a good quality dual wavelength SpO2 sensor in the Forerunner 945. Not any old shit single wavelength sensor.

The sensor in my Forerunner 945 has been within 1% of my Contec CMS50D every time I've checked it.

    @Dammit

95% is not low. Natural variation (including recovery from exercise, having a sniffle, giving blood, etc) means mine sometimes dips below 90%, especially when asleep (I don't knowingly suffer from any form of sleep apnea).

  • After changing the RD cable on my Cannondale Supersix Evo (externally routed down to BB then internal through chainstay to RD), there's now a creaky rubbing sound when pulling the cable through to change up to a bigger cassette sprocket. Sounds like it's coming from the BB area. Have I done something wrong? Am I slowly sawing my bike in half?

  • If anything the hoop stresses from tyre inflation will be less.

Actually it's more, since hoop stress goes up with increased section radius. In practice, this is usually offset by using lower inflation pressure.

Put a drop of light lube or something silicon based and see if it continues?

  • When rattle caning a frame, what's best for masking fixings for bottle bosses and racks? Tops or toothpaste?

  • can you just go out and buy a chainsaw and then start cutting up logs? or does one need some form of licence?

  • Nylon bolts. Other types of plastic are available but nylon works for me. The ones I use are technically set screws with a flat-head screwdriver slot in the top.

  • No license needed. But I would recommend buying a sensible amount of protective gear, and at least watching a few YT videos on best practice. tends to be much easier if you are just cutting up branches and trees that are already felled, more complex if you are felling trees, as you have to think about direction and pinching etc.

  • Simply count limbs and appendages before and after use.

Or get some training and proper chainsaw clothing.

  • +1 for protective clothing. Spending £70 on pair of chainsaw trousers isn’t expensive if it means you get to keep a leg if a split second mistake happens.

  • all good advice, thanks. i cant afford to lose another limb
