Agreed, but possibly not when the mud returns.

CDF was supposed to be the accessible all rounder.
And the distributor is also a Shimano distributior which doesn’t really make sense in such high pricing.
The original blue CdF (not Croix de Fer), were accessible at around £900 back in 2011, which is subsided by the new CDA that’s much more affordable (oddly similar price for Sora).
Genesis pricing have always been high, just never this high.

It's hard to parse through their many differing statements but I think official clearances of 650x 47 open up a lot more options than my current bike which can only do 650 X 42 or something apocryphal. The mud around here makes me sad but it disappears in summer so I like to imagine i could do the one bike two wheelsets thing with 700 X 38 semi slick in the summer and 650x something with knobs that clears mud in the winter. I did pretty well on smart Sam 700x35s last year though so maybe that would be enough again, but I would like to run them tubeless.

Have you actually tried a rear 650?
-
• #12857
Exactly, they can’t argue a lack of groupset buying power! They’ll probably end up going DTC next model year. (Like Saracen)

• #12858
Nah. Have you?
-
• #12859
No but I’ve got 650x45 (47) in the 853 Fugio because then700x40 (42) I had on the CDF didn’t fit when I moved the build over. CDF seems to have more room, what size you riding? I’ll chuck in the 650x45 rear in when I get home from my holidays.

Colleague asked about the triban gravel bike today. Not sure about the UK but they’re doing a SRAM apex 1x version now too.
-
• #12861
Was looking at that bike just today given high gearing on original version . Can't figure out if it'll be available in the UK...

Not sure you’re painting an accurate picture of our decision not to progress with your project here! Appreciate it might have been a bit disappointing but please can we not give the impression that we have been rude or told you to stuff your money please?
Our model has changed to a project-by-project basis. We are so grateful to be in a position to do this and have done so to make raising our daughter together our main priority, not grappling for every potential build.
A little understanding of how negative throw away comments like this can be for two-person self-employed businesses, especially now, would be most appreciated.

Like any small (tiny) business they have to be selective in the work they choose to take on. When you are handling every single aspect of your business yourself, (and even more so when that business involves hand crafted work at the highest level), while simultaneously raising a family it's necessary to make decisions that may potentially disappoint one person in order to not disappoint several. It's never as simple or as personal as the company in question just 'not wanting my money'.
I've had several projects turned down by multiple small companies recently, but I accept that it is their right to do so. Likewise I myself have turned down projects for other people because I wasn't in a position to give them the service they deserve in a timeframe that is acceptable. -

Huh, so sole traders don’t just sit around waiting to be offered money?
:-P

Plenty of other builders can fulfill your requirements, alternatively fairlight?

How does the Croix frameset price compare to other companies, and is there something out that on a par with TA and flatmount for less?
Is the clearance actually much better?
