  • 140mm of travel front and rear.

    Sensible.

  • Explain?! Done many a gravel/single track/ forest trail through Epping and was even thinking most is road bike doable!

  • Minimum 150mm to receive full badger certification after brexit

  • Do you even pebble bike?

    Pebble dash?

  • Pull the other one

  • Look forward to the further proliferation of "what's the max tire you can fit into a croix de fer?" posts in 2021, it seems like even the Genesis website hasn't a clue.

  • Reading that gave me a headache.

  • The 2015 croix de fer 30 had an RRP of 1749 and came with hydro brakes and a carbon leg fork. The 2021 croix de fer 30 has an RRP of 1899 and comes with cable discs and a steel fork.

Thru axle and flat mount have bumped the prices of steel frames such that they've all had to take spec drops to meet their price targets and the thing that they've lost is hydro brakes. Which is pretty funny.

  • The pricing of the 21 CDF range will be the end of them I reckon, absolutely ridiculous. No fucker is paying almost £2k for a Chinese steel frame and fork with cable discs that says genesis on it.

The £900 CDA 30 will eclipse the CDF completely, sure it’s alu but why would you bother with the CDF when it’s twice price and cable brakes.

If they were some edgy boutique American brand they might get away with it, but they’re Genesis. Basically the Ford or Vauxhall of bikes.

  • Rover?

  • That checks out.

  • Ha, perfect.

  • It's fucking barmy. Even buying this shit on trade pushed me away. Over a fecking grand for a mass produced steel frame. Supply and demand during a pandemic my arse, this is straight up gouging.

  • Had tried the CDA 10 and it was excellent at £650, seriously no point going for a CdF anymore.

  • Even buying this shit on trade pushed me away.

I can get a Trek with eTap for less than the Genesis on trade.

  • Are you sure you wouldn't recommend a cdf.

  • I did until I saw the price of the 2021 model!

Over £2,000 and still mechanical brakes.

  • It's bad value but for the sake of accuracy the 2300 pound cdf40 does have hydros.

    https://www.genesisbikes.co.uk/genesis-croix-de-fer-40-vargn21060.

Faran with 650 wheels with a SON dynamo/hope pro4 is about the same which seems a much better deal. 625 steel though if that matters to anyone (Doubt it)

  • My 2015 CDF30 has been a fantastic bike, it’s toured all over with me, done not gravel pretty much XC mtb riding, road centuries etc and now the frame lives on in a different guise as my commuter/go to bike - still going strong after many thousands of miles. But, even then, £1750 was a lot. I think breaking the £2k mark for hydros compared with the various competitors offerings with same group set (cube nuroad race full GRX600 £1400 for example, similar giant at ~£1500, and higher spec steel bikes at that price point) just pushes Genesis out of the completion. It’s frustrating really.

  • I guess it started as the ultimate cycle2work/cyclescheme bike, but now we all work from home!

  • Working from home with a new uncapped cycle scheme in many cases 😂

  • Yeah I have the same bike, was just contemplating something with more clearance but I cba with new bikes I think. Will wait for second hand 2021 bikes in 2022.

  • I'd love to hear their rationale behind the pricing. Prestige only goes so far when it comes to people's money. They're not really niche enough to warrant the high prices.
CDF was supposed to be the accessible all rounder.
