When was the last ~56min time trial this late in the TdF?
I only ask because I think it’s impossible to make comparisons.
Can anyone find the splits for the flat section? Was Pogacar faster than Dumoulin?

Pogacar ‘usual pattern’ lol. That performance yesterday was anything but.

His dad is a designer?

All season Pogacar's ITT bike has been set up in regs to seat height and BB angle etc to be identical to his roadbike (Something Bjerg always have done) to ensure a smooth transition.
Interesting.
Roglic looked fidgety on both bikes, like the tour had wrecked his body and made all his fit measurements redundant.

I'm just chuffed for the lovely folks in charge over at the United Arab Emirates.
Tips for today's stage? Gotta be richard J porte

It's fun reevaluating the race - JV's performance looks weak on reflection. They had a great firepower but their leader and key domestiques weren't consistently at the level required.
The more confident and attacking moves they made now look like desperate grasps for seconds that amounted to nothing in the end and their guys just got burned out whilst everyone else hung on. Savage.
An Ineos at 2018 strength would have battered them I reckon.

I predict ... Tony Martin first through the last corner.

mention of 2014 TDF has me reminiscing about nibali's epic ride on stage 5 that year

Sam Benett winning today.

Remains my favourite TdF stage I think. Was that the cobbles one?
-
• #1863
yup, 7 sectors of cobbles (reduced from 9 due to bad weather). froome climbs off before they even hit the sectors after being on the deck twice. nibali finishes in the final three with fuglsang and lars boom, puts a minute and a half into thomas, and nearly three minutes into contador. amazing stage

I for one welcome our petrochemical human right abiding overlords.

No-one, outside of a small part of the UAE team, knows Pogacar’s watts per kg figures from yesterday. Anything you see on the Internet is speculation. Some of it may be informed, but these stats get bandied around like they are gospel, but they really aren’t.

Just a rough guide, for anyone wondering if this effort was superhuman
-
• #1867
Aren't late TT's fun, 2017 Giro was another nail biter because the result was up in the air until the final day TT
-
• #1868
2012 Giro was another nail biter, Hesjedal overturning Rodriguez.
-
• #1869
Megzec I reckon.

• #1870
I assumed Pog had personally given you his training peaks login...
-
• #1871
Should be able to get an usable estimate using VAM, his bike and race weight though? Assuming 66kg, 6.8kg bike.
Fewer aero related benefits up the mountain.

Cees Bol, maybe the Sunweb train will work on the wider boulevards.
-
• #1873
Sat here calibrating his power meter right now.
-
• #1874
Someone up thread asking for relative splits from the TT, I found this:
Pogacar took almost all his time on Dumoulin on the climb (Dumoulin stayed on his TT bike).
