You looked at the Sunweb team going into this season and scratched your head about where wins were going to come from. Benoot and Mathews are strong but maybe not quite in the top tier of classics riders.
They were a key animator at Paris-Nice too, and took, I think, two stage wins there. You've got to respect what they've done with a roster which, as you say, doesn't look like it's going to get you a lot of wins.
What they have as well is a really talented British DS. Matt Winston seems like a level headed guy who is able to identify a race strategy, communicate it to the riders and instil confidence in the riders that the plan will work which of course means they’ll commit to it.
