  • £££ but looks great on the wall and the picture / feature set is nuts.

  • I bought a Shield recently for this reason. Interface is so much smoother.

Am now thinking it may also replace my Xbox for gaming. Haven't tested it fully yet but you can hook up an Xbox controller and there are quite a variety of game options on there (geforce now, android games, steam link are what I've seen so far).

  • I was curious as to what you meant. Read this:
    https://www.ign.com/articles/super-mario-3d-all-stars-port-analysis

    and now agree fully

  • Didn't watch last nights presentation but surprised to read this morning that all the new 1st party PS5 games are coming to PS4??

I thought they went PR mad, bashing Xbox for blending console generations, saying that they were truly committed to a next gen only experience for these games.

It's a positive that they're releasing them for those with a PS4 to enjoy but it's also exactly the opposite to what Sony said they would do.

  • 390mm tall so 4cm too big to fit in a Kallax either standing or lying down.

You could stick it at a 45 degree angle, probably.

    ^ PS5 DE, PS5 Disc, X series S, X, series X

  • Been refreshing 8 different UK sites and managed to actually order and pay for: 1x digital, 2x disc.

Hoping to get at least one of those. What a struggle though!

  • I fucking love Mario Kart in any form, it's an addiction...

  • Thanks for that!

Annoying/crazy they're so big! Hopefully I'll have moved house by the time I get round to buying one so might have a gaming room/office without Kallax.

  • Yeah, they're massive.

I've been impressed with the Xbox One S / X and the Series S / X from Microsoft. Super intelligent packaging/cooling show's their design prowess.

Sony have just made the PS5 massive to counteract the jumbo jet sound from the PS4.

    Though, if it works...

  • Have they actually released the dimensions of the PS5 yet? I don't mind the styling but it looks quite big compared to the controllers & they look bigger than the PS4 ones. It'll be annoying if they don't fit into a Kallax square.

    According to here it's 'PS5: Approx. 390mm x 104mm x 260mm (width x height x depth)(excludes largest projection, excludes Base)PS5 Digital Edition: Approx. 390mm x 92mm x 260mm (width x height x depth)(excludes largest projection, excludes Base)'

    so not much help really

  • £££ but looks great on the wall and the picture / feature set is nuts.

Popped to John Lewis at lunch and my goodness, the difference between the frame and those LG's is light and day.

  • Hopefully in favour of the LG? Considering how much I spent on it... :-D

  • Hopefully in favour of the LG?

100% I'm even thinking does it matter if the TV looks like a TV now?

  • Ha. Phew.

I had a Samsung Q9 which cost £££ at the time as well but I now have a 55" B6 OLED and a 65" GX OLED from LG and couldn't be happier.

Literally the only positive of the Samsung was their box which sat in a cabinet with the single smart connecter to the TV. Everything else, I prefer the LG.

If you don't want to spend GX money, the C9 is a fantastic pannel with pretty much all the latest tech and they're going for less than £1,500 for a 65" now.

  • Just realised it was the CX I saw at lunch so goodness knows how good the one you have is!

    Learning towards the OLED 65CX

  • Which actually might be the one you mentioned....

  • It's all a little confusing but basically,

C or G (or B) is the product range:

    B - Worst panel / worst features
C - Best panel / mid range features
    G - Best panel / best features

The X is the generation (6 was 4 years ago, 7 was 3 years ago etc).

So the C9 was last years mid range OLED and CX is this years version.
The CX & GX have exactly the same panel and features (apart from sound output) so if you get that, the picture will be the same as my tv. The difference is the G is the Gallery range which mount completely flat to the wall whereas the CX has a lump and the back which means it doesnt.

    Simple.

  • I appreciate it's not very exciting but any recommendations for a smaller size TV? I think the maximum space I have available at the moment would be for a 40-44" TV.

  • Massively depends on budget.

I would look at panel type, backlighting tech as well as software. I'd try to avoid Android as the base software where possible.

If you can, also try to avoid side lit or minimum dimming zone TVs at the lower end of the price brackets.

  • Not sure about price; given my current TV has lasted me since 2012 I think I get my value out of them so not too stressed about price. Been looking at the LG 43UN81006LB. Gets good reviews.

  • It's definitely one of the better ones in that price range. It's direct lit LED rather than edge lit which is better for black levels and imo, WebOS is the best TV software for useability.

  • Anything better in a similar range? Or what if I was feeling a bit more flash with the cash?

  • At 40" this was the best I could find without spending serious (over a grand) money https://www.richersounds.com/panasonic-tx40hx800b.html
There weren't a huge number of options in that size.

However, I ended up getting the previous generation TX-40GX800B for just over £400. It seems the main update was the smart tv part and the price difference meant that I got an Nvidia shield for that element which is far superior to any smart TV OS.

  • I have a samsung serif QLED (because I am a prime poseur) as my second TV and its UI/firmware is hands down the best smart TV firmware (compared to e.g. hisense UI/firmware, humax, sky, or virgin TiVO) I have ever used. can't say I've noticed the ads but I am semi-glaikit

  • Having said avoid Samsung, the consensus is that this is the best TV in the 43inch category...

If I were you, i'd be finding a way to fit a 48" TV into the space / budget you're looking at.
