Hi ,
Is it on the heavy side as a bike ? -
• #3
It isn't too bad for a classic steel bike.
It is 10.6kg as it stands, just weighted it for you @user117695
It could be lightened but being turned into a singlespeed. DT shifters/RD/FD/freewheel/ inner chainring weight about 1.5kg.
Happy to do the conversion if that's something you are interested in

I might as well price drop to £220.
Great bike for the money - I am after tandem wheels and 650B carbon wheels so would happily swap.

Hello everyone!
I have just brought this bike back from my project pile in France and sorted it out this weekend.
This is a lovely 1985 Gitane Champion in 56cm (seat tube and top tube, both centre to centre). This will fit someone from 5ft9 to 5ft11.
Very versatile bike - it has clearance for 32mm tyres and mudguard eyes so great for the city/commuting/the odd ride out.
It is in great shape, all parts have minimal wear.
Spec:
Both stem and seatpost move freely, headset & BB have no play, wheels have been trued.
I have just fitted new aero brake levers (TRP RL SSR replicas), new inner/outer brake cables, new bar tape and near new tyres.
The tyres are some of the fastest 28mm tyres available on the market at present - they cost £110 for the pair at Sigma
I have also given the bike a look over - it all works as it should, no play or issues - it is ready to ride away and be enjoyed.
I am after £250-> SOLD FOR £220 for the bike.
Test rides from New Cross SE14 are very welcome
