  • Best cable disc brakes you can buy - but yeah they'd be nicer in black

  • Really like this

  • Better than spyres you reckon?
(I’ve used spyres but not those so I wouldn’t know)

Love the bike - MAkes me wish my genesis had a bit more style

  • the best cable discs are already worse than worst hydro brakes

  • Cable discs are good enough for CTR / TD influencers then they are good enough for a nice ride around epping.

  • 100% I've jumped between Spyres, BB7s and tried out some Paul Clampers, BB7 comes out on top for me.

@amey that's simply not true. BB7s offer 1 finger braking and require no maintenance. Hydro is just a faff.

  • New wheels, cranks and spaceship stem on the daily

EDIT: just realised I found a wall that matches my paint work

  • Still really great that

  • BB7s offer 1 finger braking and require no maintenance.

Apart from manual adjustment for pad wear 🙄

  • I just bought some Juin Tech R1 (Hydro-Mech disc brakes) and they're much better than my Spyre-Cs as both pads move, not just one side as they did on the Spyre.
Also, it's a very easy swap and both pads and tension adjustment are super simple. It took me less than 20 minutes to swap and set both brakes.
So far, no issues, I'm genuinely chuffed with them. They're not too expensive on Amazon.

  • Disc measuring flex chat >>>>>

  • Can anyone suggest a solution for this problem.

I recently bought this aerobar. Unfortunately the bolts that hold the pad holders in place are rusted to the point that the allen key slips if I try to remove the bolt. Any suggestions on how to remove the bolt, without damaging the aerobar and the thread underneith?

  • Dremel a slot and use a flathead screwdriver? Or a counterclockwise drill and pray it’ll catch the bolt before you go deep enough to damage the threads.

  • Drill a hole and use a screw extractor

  • Depending on how much shape is lest of the hex you could;

    a) superglue the allen key into the bolt head and it might hold enough to unscrew, I'm doubtful as there's a bit of corrosion there and the capscrews will likely be pretty stuck.

    b) try and force the nearest equivalent size of imperial allen key into the hex

Other than that you're on to more destructive methods like Tijmen suggested. You can also drill into the capscrew and try to remove using an "Easy Out" but I'd leave that until you've exhausted all other options cause once you start drilling that's it.

  • Thanks guys for the quick responses! I will get cracking with it this afternoon. I will let you know if it worked.

  • And plenty of penetrating fluid

  • Try hammering a similar sized Torx bit in.

  • This is my go to solution.

  • Nearly there with this, a couple of bits to alter but this dial-in ride has been fun.

  • ...hnnnggggg that's so badass.

Frame + wheel combo is a total winner, and the bold choice of red cables has paid off. Though I'd say, for 10/10 Ndeipi Points, the stem could be slimmer and the saddle blacker.

  • Thanks. All those 1” threadless stems seem to be chunky bois, should look better when I cut the steerer. I’m going to get the wheels re-spoked with silver before I call it done, that should tie it all together then.

  • Are those Goodyear tyres a thing or did you put the lettering on yourself?
