I guess a climber and former Tour winner doesn't end up in the grupetto just because they "haven't got the legs" - it's got to be more than that. They also showed a lot of footage of him stretching out his back while riding.
I don't really understand why he's still in the race. Are they expecting it to get better during the remaining stages so he can go stage-hunting? I mean, it surely can't be a bluff designed to make them let him go were he to attack.
