Apologies for the spam but these may be of interest to anyone looking for some nice pendants on a budget

Thanks! Really like these. Do you know any where selling just the legs?
-
• #2930
I might oddly. I got some chairs from eBay recently and the seller said they might have some tables where the tops are damaged. I asked them to let me know if that's the case, so I'll let you know if/when that happens.

You can buy the legs (only) directly from VG&P.

Soz, yep. Worked out really nicely I think. Cabinets were gloss cream, and worktops were black granite. Now looks like this having been wrapped in matte white. New worktops, sink, tap, new handles, pendants and blind and made shelves from new worktop off-cuts. Big improvement I reckon.
shit low light phone pic but you get the idea.

Ooh. Please keep me posted!

Cheers. That looks great.
Was it DIY and do you mind me asking what the cost was?
"40-fags-a-day colour" pretty accurately describes ours too. Which is unsurprising given the scent of our place when we first moved in.

I have a spare set of the vg&p legs as we recently bought some green ones (odd) although maybe the same eBay seller?

If you are selling the spare set, I am interested

Thanks, no worries. It was a mix really. worktops ordered online were about £300 I think. Nice thing was that as they were non-standard sizes we got all the offcuts so I till lave loads of oak left to make shelves and other things out of. https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/solid-wood-worktops. The island top was pre-oiled but I had to treat the worktops with Danish Oil over the course of a week. Well pleased with the result and it seems much more durable and mark resistant that i had anticipated.
The wrapping was a day's work for two blokes and I think cost around £350 for 15 doors, all uprights and kick boards. https://www.kitchenwrapsuk.co.uk/?utm_source=yell&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=yell
They did a great job I think. They also fitted all the handles which were the biggest extravagance to be honest. Something like £300 for these nice solid knurled nickel ones.
I like them because they look and feel like Telecaster knobs.Got a local carpenter to fit the new worktops for £200 for the day. I helped him rip out the old granite and had to dispose of that myself. He also built the shelves from worktop offcuts (we supplied the brackets).
Sink and tap was another online order and I fitted that myself. Ditto the new lights. I tidied up the old tiles by touching up the grout with a grout pen. Did all the new mastic round the sink and hob with new white as well.
Oh yeah i also "built" the breakfast bar by removing the cupboards from one side of the island and building a foot rest from worktop off-cuts and a plywood panel back. I also cut down two oak barstools i'd had waiting for that purpose. Had to take them apart, cut down and reassemble.
That's about it really. All in all probably cost a couple of grand spread over three or four months as we did things in stages.

Next step is to rearrange the utility room off the back of the kitchen to make better use of the space there and the space under the stairs. There's currently a shower room down here as the legacy of the house being converted to two flats. which just collects laundry, pushchairs and general junk. It has to go. I plan knock though into the shower room so make a bigger utility room with a small toilet cubicle at the end. Hoping that will create enough storage for shoes and coats etc that I can turn the taller half of the cupboard under the stairs into a larder. The lower end i'll probably open up and use for shoe or toy storage. Mmmmmm. Storage. Interested in seeing good ideas for under-stair space.

More for architects than about architecture - anyone having issues with getting PII at the moment? My usual broker is just coming up with quotes with absurd exclusions in them about anything to do with fire - not just cladding, but means of escape, compartmentation etc. Basically everything. I'm rejecting them on the basis they're not fit for purpose for me - but wondering if this is applying to everything now?

where to buy nice carpet?! I want one with a speckle/fleck similar to marmoleum, but all of the ones I'm looking at are solid coloured or patterned...

anyone have any experience with these knock-offs?

We have this in the bedroom. Undyed wool so a bit oatmeal / speckled. I found the manufacturer after a bit of research. John Lewis sell it as their own (for a markup).

Bit of an ask, but I remember a few years ago someone posting an armchair here that they'd recently bought: large, metal framed, sling base and back with large cushions (a bit like an oversized Wassily Chair with cushions), blue (?). Might have been from a Swedish or German manufacturer?
Does anyone remember this? Am I imagining it? Can't seem to find it anywhere.

There are even cheaper ones on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08BTVBH7F/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_4?smid=A14324KWJ4CYHT&psc=1
I am working on the assumption that all the replicas are from the same Chineese factory and its just how they are resold that effects the price.
If you buy it let me know how it is because I am also tempted. -

Sadly not, I have been hunting... nor a good Togo repro.
Remind me please, who makes these?
