  • Very nice. Well played, I keep toying with the idea of a fade, but would be using spray cans, and I'm not sure which colours to go for, so probably won't!

  • Cheers. I think technique wise it’s the best I’ve done. No fubars with with the LM and the line widths are pretty consistent.

Thinking about getting a new airbrush with a finer tip for adding textures.

Fades with cans might be hard - the pattern is really wide unless you get in real close but then the volume of paint gets really high.

You could get a basic spray gun and a propellant can for not much £ to do basic fades.

Alternately do some candies backed with bright silver and black or gunmetal for a really nice single tone.

  • Clearing out my attic and just found this amphibious beast, which brought much joy to 9 year old me.

No idea if it works, it’s been up there in a box for about 20 years so I’m sure the battery pack is likely dead? Anyone here want to have a go for the price of postage?

Someone else’s YouTube video showing it’s forgotten splendour: https://youtu.be/bP53nKluBNY

  • A friend recently gave me his old car which he was just going to scrap due to a new purchase. So I bought his kids a car each. They seemed suitably impressed. Sorry for poor quality picture.

  • Awesome. 😎

  • It's strange. I always remember the boxes being so much bigger when I was a kid. They seemed tiny when I got them. I thought I'd been sent the wrong thing.

  • Nice, great first cars

  • That is mental but I love it

  • Anyone used Tamiya smoke to do a windscreen? Have this Astute shell I’m doing and the MCI window stickers are garbage so thought I’d smoke it instead but interested in knowing what the finish is like.

  • Awesome. 😎

  • Very excited to report that after having been sat for 31 years in Mum and Dads loft - "Wild Willy" (original version) is back in my hands.

The tyres are not perished just yet and the AA batteries that were left in the receiver didn't leak too much either. So far so good.

Apparently I'll be needing a new RC battery and charger.

The photo shows how my younger self repaired major crash damage with Meccano.

Any one know where to head for replacement parts? Are we 3D printing this stuff yet...

  • Why one of the rear shocks is being used to form the bumper I'm not sure...

  • Any one know where to head for replacement parts?

Tamico.de , Tony’s Tamiya Parts seem to be my go tos for spares.

Definitely a strong modding scene on shapeways

  • Plus they released this lots of times, so spares ahould be easy to come by

  • Not Tamiya, but scored a few micro racers to rebuild and sell on whilst I wait for the one o ordered in May to arrive.

Basically 3 full cars a a literal shit tonne of spares, including 10 diffs.....

  • Just 10? I am disappoint

  • You’ll find the amount of spare shocks similarly disappointing then.

  • I seem to have tracked down a replacement bumper for my Wild Willy original on eBay. £50 though - ouch.

Can anyone advise on a replacement battery that would be appropriate for an original 1983 Wild Willy?

  • Just a 7.2v NiMh would do non?

Think I got an HPI plasma online for under £20

  • In other news.

Gonna have to stick the speed recorder on this next time out. Flew today.

  • I love those chassis where the gearbox is basically the spur gear.

  • Yeah it's a cheapo 1/12 indoor that I have barstardized. Including copydexing the foam wheels for traction. Still spins up mad stylez.
