Mid life crisis MTB’s - Raleigh 531 / Dale M400 / Giant Escaper

Fun times! Stripping down the frame before the wheels arrive next week and the headset lock ring has somehow managed to damage the threads on the steerer.

Result is that the top cup for the headset now has utterly mangled threads.... sigh.

Gonna chase out the threads and have a 1 1/8” tange falcon on the way as a replacement but still...

Praise be to Argos for chasing the threads, but a big fuck you to the frame gods as the headset up is seized in the headtube....FML

Picked up the wheels today from RyanBuildsWheels, they did an awesome job.

Ooh, it’s been a while - going to have to pull that off the shelves (vertigo swirl, naturally!)

Stoked with the rebuild, fresh drivetrain, Wippermann chain, Stronglight rings and now 8 speed at rear for allllll the gears.

Almost fell out of love with this, so close to replacing it with an old ‘dale. Glad I didn’t though. New rubber fitted and new brakes on the way, gonna try these new fangled V brakes the kids are talking about.

Thanks bud! Dale was a 92 m600 beast of the east in the red white blue colour way. Lush, but collection only in Cumbria...
