If they did the blue Pelagos puck in the 58 dimensions I’d be at the front of the queue.
Anyone got something Universal Geneve they’d care to share...?

Love the stark 3d-ness of the face. Not sure why Tudor decided they needed to add 63 lines of text on the bottom half of the second iteration.

Yeah, I like that gilt oysterdate a lot but it’s kind of “Rolex-minus” where the one with the red second hand and big arabics feels a lot more unique and more interesting to me. I’m pretty ignorant of vintage stuff though so quite possible it was also just a cheaper version of a Rolex reference as well.

Possibly the Raleigh but I don’t know about this other than a quick google. The Tudor is much nicer.

Yeah that’s pretty close. Agree, Tudor is much nicer. Looks quite a bit later as well.

Ha, I saw you comment on that mint Evil Nina, what a piece. I was trawling the old sales ads and found some stunners although the prices in the last two years have rocketed. Lusting after something with the Micro-rotor so I picked up this cheap linen dial Hamilton to play with in the meantime (£100).

Stunning.
I wonder how the micro rotor holds up against traditional...

And the a pic of the Compax 885103/01 ‘Evil Nina’ because they never appear in this condition.

Well not great but they are thin! Less inertia so generally a lower power reserve. The quality of UG movements can be seen at a glance, a nice Polerouter will cost £1.5-2K when they could be snagged sub a grand a few years back.

These universal geneve compax look extremely similar to Speedmasters... Am I missing something?

Am I missing something?
I think the Compax pre-exists the Moonwatch by quite a few years.
Edit: Just read that the UG 281 movement was first made in the 1930s https://www.watch-wiki.net/index.php?title=Universal_281

Yup, first UG Compax Chronograph was sold in 1936. First moonwatch was 1957. The question should be why does the moonwatch look so much like a Compax ;)

Pretty similar, quite a bit smaller though - 36mm Vs 42mm. UG went more for the racing driving angle like Heuer with this model, the name Evil Nina is because it’s the reverse colour way of a watch synonymous with the driver Jochen Rindt (well his model wife Nina - stealth edit).
Another Bazamu image.
