• Thanks for the tip. Replacement tyre heading to me today. As it turns out the sealant did not work, as soon as I put a bit more air in it stopped holding.

  • Managed to get a sidewall hole on my new wtb raddler. Chunky worm insert held but kept slipping out and required attention and nursing to get me home.

    Pal in a shop tried to boot it- is it even possible to boot a tyre and set it back up tubeless?v

  • WTB Exposures, on my 3rd set, from 30mm up to 36mm, they all leak through sidewall pinholes initially, and it can take several rides before this stops. This is normal for these tyres and I would expect other WTB versions to be the same

  • Didn't happen to me with WTB "Expanse" (they change/merge names sometimes, so can't trust the name) 32mm's, TCS with tanwalls.

  • Don't know, but I do need levers. Always tape my rims so the tyres are hard to get on, then they always seal up well

    Mine were 28-622 so 28mm x 700c folding and I fitted them by hand on Wiggle Prime rims.

    They were a tight fit but not as much as you guys make it sound like. I did not swear while fitting them!

    I normally add ~3-4mm on the internal width

  • Cycle clinic recommended the 21mm Tesa tape for the 19mm internal width rim I was building with and it worked great. I've since used the same tape on a DT Swiss wheel that was 19mm internal too.

    Didn't happen to me with my 36mm Exposures. Inflated them with an inner tube, then sealed one side with a bit of soapy water and put sealant in after that. No leaks through the sidewalls and I've done two rides on them now. Using Orange Seal.

    @pacef8 mounted on my Pacenti SL25's no problem without levers, not tight at all on those. I've not used gp5000s but from what everyone says less tight.

  • Just got really confused about how flecks of aluminium had gotten past me when I was building my wheels, then past the tubeless tape and into the tyre. Spent ages picking them all off the rim.

    Really freaked out when I went to get the new tyre I was fitting which I'd previously set up and used once or twice on a Mavic xm819 UST rim, one of the ones that's not even drilled, and it had flecks of aluminium on it too.

    Spent even longer picking them off the tyre.

    Turns out its a design feature of the Orange sealant that helps it seal holes better! Doh!

    You wouldn't have been so confused if you'd ever had a lapdance from somebody wearing body glitter. That stuff gets everywhere and sticks around for months 🙂

  • Put a set of 30mm G-One Speed TLEs on Kinlin XR-22t rims. Tyres went up with a track pump and have held air overnight, but didn't get the usual "pop" when the bead seats(?) in the rim. Should the tyres always "pop" on, or does that just depend on the tyre/rim?

    Edit: read the links in the first post "Not all tyre Tim combination pop and ping when this is achieved". Seems like it's fine :)

  • I've had the same, on tyres I have fitted there is usually a moulding line close to the rim that I use to check the tyre is on equally all the way around. You'll also need to let the tyres down to put in some sealant (unless you did that before the first inflation). If they are not seated properly I think they will pop off then anyway.
    You may know this already but when deflating for the first time I tend to do it slowly to try and reduce the risk of the tyre un-seating. Not sure this really makes a difference but it makes me feel better.
