To add to the excellent points raised above the handling of the bike when static is better and weight distribution across the wheels is improved.

Aesthetics mainly.
I do hate how rear loaded bikes feel when out the saddle personally though. (admittedly that experience is with a carradice so the weight is higher up) -
It’s a bit like braking with front or back brake. When cornering at speed, with weight on the back the bike wants to go straight on out of the corner, with weight on the front bike sits into corners better. Really a massive difference and the most important one IMO (aside from the Instagram points)

As a relative newby, can someone explain to me the implicit preference for front racks over rear racks in this thread? Or is it just for A E S T H E T I C S ???
