  • Interestingly, that edition of Tirreno used the same finishing climb as today's stage, and Adam Yates put 34 seconds into Thomas that day.

  • Simon Yates is a bit more of a punchy, dynamic rider than Adam Yates, but when it comes to time trialling, they both have limitations and record similar results. So it was based on that rather than the idea that identical twins record identical results.

    Thomas, on the other hand, is one of the best time triallists in the peloton, but a 10 km TT is a bit short for him.

    I wouldn't like to call it, but tomorrow's stage suits Yates more than it suits Thomas so he might extend his lead still.
