Ah, melamine was what I was missing. Cheers

I’m going to put some cork tiles on a wall. Should I buy ‘cork adhesive’ when I buy them or is there some other adhesive that will be fine?
-

‘Wall Adhesive’
kidding, a decent rubber cement should work -

Windows in.
Will look a lot nicer once all the masonry has had a lick of paint

Went for secondary glazing then?
-
• #23757
Basically yes, it doesn't flow enough to run down the wall in most cases.
It's usually expensive and a bitch to work with on floors, walls are a bit easier.
Worth using a comb spreader that has the appropriate size teeth for the adhesive, manufacturer should be providing those details.

Not sure. What is secondary glazing?

They look nice. Did the original pattern have 4 panes per window?
-
• #23760
No idea on the original. It was gross PVC when I bought it.

Neighbours windows might be a clue? I'm obviously a bit of a window geek so I'm trying to tie the architecture to the original window style. At a guess they were 4 per window because of the date of construction and larger glass sheets were a more specialised item. I'm always happy to find exceptions though.

Needs moar pebbledash

Maybe paint the entire frontage cream off-white

Yes, I think they probably did have 4 panes.
Being a window geek is not the worst vice.

Nice windows.
That brickwork though - Did they try and sneak an extra course in between the upstairs windows?

At some point in its 150 year history the front of the house has subsided. There is a sag in the centre of the floor over the bay window, measuring 105mm
Structural engineer says don't worry, all fine etc.. I'm less convinced.

I think fixing this might just be my intro to plumbing. It's not a temporary fix BTW, the previous occupant lived with this presumably for a long time.

I'm sat here looking at my bay window doing pretty much the same thing, unfortunately

It's not even close to my worst vice.

Thanks.

Before getting round to ordering the wooden dowels for the toddler climbing frame I came across some cute mini pallets outside Halfords. One of the guys said I could have them, so I put all 3 in the boot of my Golf (seats up - to give an idea of size).
They were fairly smooth, so a bit of sanding and the last of my outdoor varnish made a child safe surface.
It stayed up with friction fit, but thought it best to secure it. Finally got the correct length bolts and bolted them together with some spare washers and nuts.
Other than the cost of mistakenly ordering 12mm bolts and the correct length 120mm ones it was effectively free.
Quite pleased.
More redneck engineering / style than what I had planned to build, but it seems to work.

Don’t drop 400kg of steel on your finger, goes a funny colour.
