No, I'd need to plan ahead as well. In particular I'd like to test a new loop section.
As a thought, where would you rather start? We could meet in Greenwich and ride along the Waterlink Way and pick up the route from there, or could meet at Norbury station (saves about 90 minutes riding). From Norbury its about 40 minutes to the first bit of off-road.
Norbury is accessible from London Bridge, Victoria and Clapham Junction.
