Of course they're not. On the other hand how good do you need it to be? In the bad old days you'd buy an old bike on a budget and learn to keep it running with parts and spares from wherever you could get them.
Now if you want something new with a naturally limited lifespan it's available from manufacturers utilising old designs and manufacturing machinery made with lower quality materials and fewer quality checks on small tolerances.
I tend to think it's a bad decision because they don't last or keep their value.

Are those Chinese / Taiwan scooters at half the price , half the scooter .
AJS ones are amazing value , but surely the quality can’t be as good .
